ABOUT THE ROLE

This position is responsible for performing food preparation and production functions; ensuring standards are met in accordance with Ministry of Health LTC Standards Health Protection and Promotions Act The Occupational Health & Safety Act and Departmental Policy..

QUALIFICATIONS

Successful completion of a Chef training or Culinary Management diploma from a vocational or trade school or community college or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum three (3) years experience in a related position of a large institutional or commercial establishment providing a full range of culinary services including experience working with therapeutic menus scratch cooking and bulk decentralized food service.

Valid Food Safety Certification ( Food Safety Training).

Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Checks (PVSC).

Knowledge of and ability to operate institutional and job related food service tools and equipment.

Knowledge of the Sanitation Code Health Protection and Promotions Act Occupational Health & Safety Act and MOHLTC guidelines as related to food and nutrition service.

Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service communication team work initiative / self-management accountability flexibility and adaptability.

Demonstrated basic computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications and the ability to receive and respond to emails.

Good interpersonal and communication skills to work within a diverse community and ability to deal empathetically with residents family members etc. to contribute to their well-being.

Ability to work effectively independently or as a part of a team.

Ability to read write and follow written and verbal instructions in English.

Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs and to withstand long periods of walking standing and frequent bending and twisting.

Ability to work outside regular business hours as required and to work a variety of shifts.

As a condition of employment candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) tuberculosis screening and proof of immunization in accordance with the Long-Term Care Homes Act
