We are looking for a Senior Learning Advisor for a 7-month contract position, with possible extensions in Calgary, Alberta. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Hybrid schedule, at least 4 days in the office. 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week. It is NOT a remote role.
Role Description
The Senior Learning Advisor will be responsible for project management partnership of business and training needs through detailed analysis supporting the design, development, and implementation of technical, safety and organizational learning solutions. This role also oversees relationships and contracts with external vendors that offer learning services to the organization, guarantying optimal value, quality, and service from vendors while minimizing risks and upholding regulatory and ethical standards.
This role requires detailed knowledge and experience related to project management, vendor management, business and training needs analysis, instructional design, people and organizational learning theory and practice. Application of enterprise learning, information & communication technologies to support enhanced learning, knowledge management, and performance support applications is also required. This role is responsible for partnering with the team of internal instructional designers, internal clients and third-party learning development vendors as the conduit for learning services.
This is a business-faced role which means regular partnership and collaboration with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. You will deliver on learning solutions as well as support the implementation of learning strategies and solutions.
Responsibilities
- Supervise external learning vendors as needed to ensure that externally developed learning products adhere to modern adult learning principles, timelines and business objectives.
- Create and sustain the vendor management strategy along with the necessary processes and procedures.
- Identify potential vendors and assess their capabilities, experience, and reputation in providing learning services.
- Evaluate vendor performance to confirm that established standards are met, and that products and services are of high quality; conduct quality reviews and look back sessions.
- Perform all reviews on third party eLearning design and development to ensure adherence to agreed upon standards and guidelines, recognized industry and discipline standards.
- Ensure vendors adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards, including labor laws, environmental regulations, and industry-specific standards.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors and stakeholders to foster collaboration and communication.
- Spot opportunities to enhance collaboration with third-party vendors and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with internal business partners to assess learning needs, manage training needs and strategize learning solutions that align with corporate objectives.
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders proposing recommendations and innovative learning solutions to solve client needs, advocate for the learner experience and develop program updates accordingly.
- Partner with the Lead, Instructional Design to conduct business process needs assessments, gap analyses, training needs analysis with operational stakeholders to identify approach, resourcing and requirements.
- Accountable and responsible for the development of learning assessments, activities, initiatives, projects and plans with a systems thinking approach.
- Act as liaison between third party eLearning development and the organization's client groups and Learning & Development.
- Perform project management tasks (e.g., develop project plans, schedules, look backs, coordinate project activities and resolve roadblocks).
- Provide regular status updates to stakeholders and Lead, Instructional Design throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with other team members to identify, contribute and implement standard methodologies and approaches to ensure consistent, high-quality products and services are delivered to clients.
- Perform Instructional Design accountabilities, when needed, to support internal team members for internal learning development requests; including, but not limited to, content and peer reviews and development of supporting materials such as quick reference guides.
- Adhere to corporate policy and procedures and incorporate company-wide best practices into training materials, where applicable.
Required Skills and Experience
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.Post-secondary education in Instructional Design, Learning and Development, Adult Learning or related field of study.Minimum 10 years’ experience designing and delivering technical, safety and organizational learning or related programs.Oil and Gas (or related) industry experience is an asset.Project management experience supporting enterprise learning programs; ability to plan, execute, and complete projects with little oversight.Strong self-motivation : ability to stay focused and motivated without direct supervision.Ability to build effective relationships at all levels within the organization.Ability to organize work and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.Excellent time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills to navigate challenges.Excellent attention to detail.Demonstrated willingness to take initiative and go beyond expectations .Demonstrated strong customer service skills.Experience with ADDIE / SAM methodologies.Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office; including, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio and Project.In-depth knowledge of contemporary learning technologies such as : online learning, gaming & simulation, knowledge capture, validation, integration & transfer, and evaluation.Experience with eLearning content development tools would be considered an asset (Captivate and Articulate )Minimum 5 years’ experience with virtual learning environments (e.g., Zoom, Teams)
