Role Requirements:
This individual contributor role identifies and mitigates risk in customer contracts, negotiates and ensures compliance with the contract’s terms and conditions, and oversees change management for the contracts. This role regularly advises other LOB functions on contractual matters and is seen as the subject matter expert.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and mitigate contractual risk throughout the program/project lifecycle from bid to closure;
- Lead negotiations with customers on acceptable terms and conditions during bid/award and project execution phases;
- Prepare, review and negotiate agreements including, but not limited to NDAs/PIAs, MOUs, and Teaming Agreements, to protect Ultra’s contractual and strategic interests;
- Review and markup terms and conditions, identifying onerous or risky obligations for Ultra;
- Ensure the effective flow of prime terms into contractual arrangements with suppliers;
- Ensure that the contractual aspects of proposals are reviewed, drafted, and submitted accordingly;
- Negotiate and manage bank issued bonds and guarantees;
- Advise senior leadership and other functional team members on contractual matters;
- Represent the Contracts function at internal/external program meetings and drive contractual action items to completion;
- Maintain effective contractual governance in accordance with policies, procedures and processes;
- Any other duties as required by the company.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Law or Commerce or related field;
- 8+ years’ experience working in commercial/contracts administration in a customer-facing (sell-side) role;
- Ability to identify key areas in contract terms that, if accepted, would represent a significant risk to the company;
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills;
- Advanced presentation skills with ability to present in front of executive leadership team;
- Strong conflict resolution skills esp. in customer negotiations;
- Self-motivated and proactively able to manage/prioritize own work to achieve objectives;
- The Candidate must be capable of acquiring a NATO Secret security clearance and a Canadian Controlled Goods assessment to the satisfaction of the company
Desired Skills:
- Aerospace/defence or related business is an advantage;
- International contracting experience a plus;
- Knowledge of contract law and government regulations (including Export Control) as they relate to commercial and contracts functions;
- High level of capability with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
