This opening is for a position on our Emergency EA Supply List. In this role, you will be responsible for providing temporary coverage for unfilled Educational Assistant absences on an as-needed basis. Location:All geographical areas of the Board, including North Wellington, Centre Wellington, East Wellington, Guelph, Orangeville, Dufferin County, and Shelburne.Note: As an Emergency Educational Assistant, you may select your preferred work locations within these regions.FTE and Hours:On-call basis, depending on need, with shifts of either 3.25 hours or 6.5 hours per day.Hourly Pay Rate:$30.92 per hour, plus applicable vacation pay in accordance with the ESA; wage rate effective September 1, 2025 Start Date:As soon as possibleEnd Date:June 26, 2026 with possibility of extensionBoard Information:10-month position (yearly from September – June following the school year calendar); CasualReporting to the Principal/Vice-Principal, the Emergency Educational Assistant will support students with many diverse needs, ensuring a safe and secure environment at all times.Responsibilities:Work with students with many diverse needs. This work provides support for the behaviour, safety, medical and physical needs of a student. Duties may include lifting, toileting, positioning and transferring children and equipment.Work with students both individually and/or in a group setting.Flexibility, patience, empathy and the ability to work closely with students with complex needs, classroom teacher and AdministrationAbility to function independently within the framework of a teamOther duties as assigned Experience and Qualifications:Successful completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent is requiredMust be 18 years of age or older.Candidates must be capable of performing the essential physical duties of the role, such as lifting, positioning and transferring children and equipment and utilizing BMS techniques where required;Preference will be given to candidates with a proven ability and recent school- based experience in working with students with special needs and behavioural disabilitiesPrior experience (paid or volunteer) working with school aged children considered to be an asset.Ability to communicate in a sensitive, courteous mannerCurrent First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.Ability to work as a team playerDemonstrated commitment to working in a diverse school community and/or work environmentAbility to maintain strict confidentiality and privacy of student information.Access to a reliable method of transportation and ability to attend specific schools APPLICATION DETAILSReady to make a difference?
