Position Summary
The Building Operator will participate in all aspects of Rogers Arena’s preventative maintenance program and installation and operation of the ice sheet. This includes lighting, HVAC, refrigeration, and all other related equipment.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Participate in all aspects of the preventative maintenance program for HVAC, refrigeration, and other building mechanical equipment
- Participate in all aspects of installation, maintenance, and operation of ice sheet as directed
- Operate lighting, HVAC, refrigeration, and all related equipment
- Operate, inspect, and adjust HVAC controls and schedules as directed
- Operate, inspect, and adjust refrigeration plant operation, including start‑up and shut‑down of plant and related equipment
- Liaise with in‑house technical staff, internal and external clients, and contract trades people to ensure efficient operation and completion of assigned tasks
- Assist with inventory controls for all maintenance parts and supplies related to the physical plant and building operation
- Provide event‑related support for all building systems
Required Experience And Qualifications
Ice Facility Operator Certificate requiredFourth Class Power Engineers Certificate or Refrigeration Operator Certificate preferredKnowledge of automated building control systems, computer systems or equipment‑related experienceExperience in making and maintaining ice surfaces, including experience driving a Zamboni or OlympiaExperience in troubleshooting HVAC, Mechanical & Plumbing issuesExperience in performing minor repairs to HVAC, Mechanical and Plumbing systems with appropriate tools.Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by Rogers Arena event scheduleSolid team player with a strong customer service focusExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to deal effectively with all levels of staff, guests, promoters, clients, corporate partners, and supplier contractorsAbility to take initiative and work well under minimal supervisionSuperior organizational skills and attention to detailOnsite role at Rogers ArenaVancouver is one of the most diverse cities in the world and Canucks Sports & Entertainment strives to create a workforce that is inclusive, equitable, and represents our beautiful, unique community.
