Overview

WM is looking for a Mechanic to join our repair and maintenance shop at Strathmore Hauling Site. The role offers career progression, a stable work environment and the opportunity to support a fleet that serves over 20 million customers across North America.

Hours and Location

Monday – Friday every week

Start at 6 : 30 AM

Repair / maintenance shop at Strathmore Hauling Site

What you’ll do

Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on a wide range of vehicles and equipment

Estimate time and material costs on vehicle repairs and new parts

Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs)

Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns

Perform safety checks on vehicles – safety is the top priority

Complete required paperwork, documenting parts usage and accounting for repair times

Assist senior Mechanics with project work

Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports

Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures

Qualifications

Licensed Heavy Duty Mechanic On Road and Off Road

2 years of relevant work experience

A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

Over 18 years of age

Legally eligible to work in Canada

Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations

Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical

Assets : CVIP certification and a valid Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s license

Physical demands

Exert frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, and climbing; constantly standing, walking, and grasping; occasionally sitting and balancing

Exposed to physical occupational risks such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc. often

Exposed to physical environment involving dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements often

Operates in both inside garage, shop or gas plant conditions as well as outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity
