ROLE

As a Laboratory Technician, you are a vital member of the Laboratory Department performing duties such as :

• Receive, identify, separate, record and distribute biological specimens for in house analysis or to a reference laboratory.
• Perform venipuncture, capillary collection and ECG’s on in and out patients.
• Separate, file, sort and distribute laboratory reports.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to plan and organize workflow.
• Documentation of procedures for statistical and billing purposes of the Laboratory.
• Must be able to work independently and meet the physical demands required for venipuncture collection and ECG tracing (back mobility and reaching).
• Performs testing procedures as required in other areas in the Laboratory such as Microbiology and Pathology.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)

Require knowledge of instrumentation principles.

Location : Multi-Site, working on-site at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting.

Hours of Work : Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.
