This role will coordinate aspects of all safety programs and assists in the preparation and maintenance of occupational safety standards to ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures, government standards, laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitates WCB’s Return to Work program
  • Facilitates and monitors employees’ accommodations accordingly based off given guidelines
  • Manages employees WCB claims on behalf of the employer and acts as a point of contact between WCB and SA.
  • Investigates and collects information regarding mechanisms of injury for WCB claims
  • Assists Safety, Security Manager and any management with collecting and providing pertinent information in regards to injured employee and their WCB claim to its ability
  • Coordinates and schedules all Occupational Health Unit and Safety related programs such as audiometric testing, respirator evaluations, flu clinics, Back Safe training, First Aid certification, vision testing and as assigned
  • Coordinates the exchange of information between Safety Specialist and Occupational Health Nurse
  • Prepares materials, reports and data for WCB claims
  • Prepares materials for, and participates in, safety meetings for employees and work groups.
  • Recommends necessary changes to the WCB Return to Work program.
  • Collects and provides relevant information for WCB hearing loss claims (monitors progress, collects pertinent data for WCB)
  • Coordinates the Back Safe and Sit Safe training programs for all employees as preventative measures of possible long and costly injuries
  • Ensures StandardAero adheres to all First Aid legislative requirements.
  • Coordinates the Blood Donor Program
  • Organizes and schedules audiometric testing with contractor for the Hearing Conservation Program
  • Coordinates mandatory hearing testing for categorized employees
  • Responsible for administrating safety related programs (respiratory, WCB, hearing conservation, and personal protective equipment).
  • Collects WCB injury stats to management when required
  • Administers and processes various invoices for safety shoe program, safety glasses program, first aid kits and certain eye tests.
  • Assists on-site nurse with administration for disability claims
  • Responsible for reporting immediate any unsafe practices / conditions.
  • Carries out special projects as assigned

Qualification

  • Strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of the Workers Compensation Act and its guidelines (Preferred)
  • Thorough knowledge of safety-related company administrative policies and procedures. (Preferred)
  • Thorough knowledge of municipal, Federal health and safety regulations and standards.
  • Working knowledge of PC's in the current company operating system environment. (Preferred)
