DASCH is a non-profit organization established in 1974 dedicated to exploring and meeting the residential, day program, respite and foster care needs of youth and adults. Position Summary :
Under the direction of the Manager of Quality Care and Vocational Development, the Lawn Care Coordinator is responsible for the maintenance of green space, outdoor property areas, and flower beds, as well as training and supervision of the lawn care team. The position involves working with people with intellectual disabilities who have an interest in outdoor landscaping to help expand on their skillsets that they can transfer over to other employment opportunities.
Working collaboratively, in a positive atmosphere of inclusion, the Lawn Care Coordinator will identify needs, abilities, strengths, and interests of the people we support.

Perform lawn maintenance tasks at DASCH properties throughout Winnipeg.Supervise, motivate, and monitor the performance of the lawn care team.Coordinating the weekly schedule of lawn care team.Receiving and answering emails from customers.Serve as a positive role model for the people we support.Recognize and provide physical, emotional, and social support to each person in a respectful and caring manner.Provide learning opportunities and support in areas such as : personal hygiene, socialization, and etiquette in the workplace.Advocate on behalf of the people we support, always keeping their best interests in mind.Promote independence and encourage decision-making through recognition and respect of the interests and choices of the people we support.Complete and maintain required documentation, in a well-written, legible manner.Maintain effective communication with the Manager of Quality Care and Vocational Development, co-workers, and the people we support.Skills & Qualifications :
Canadian Grade 10 Education or equivalent (degree, certificate, or diploma programs completed in English or French) or Level 6 on the Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment is required.Full or Intermediate Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s License with access to a vehicle for use during work hours is required.Experience in lawn care including mowing, trimming, planting, and weeding.Knowledge of Smartphones and Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated skills and ability to work in a team environment.Patience, understanding, and ability to listen non-judgmentally.Sound knowledge of intellectual disabilities and experience working in the field is an asset.Please note that employment within DASCH is contingent on the receipt of satisfactory background checks, including Criminal Record Check (CRC), Adult Abuse Registry Check (AARC) and Child Abuse Registry Check (CARC) as well as employment reference checks. DASCH will accept existing CRC, AARC and CARC if dated within 3 months of your application date.
