SUMMARY :

Merit Services Ltd. is currently seeking a highly accomplished and dynamic Director of Strategic Sourcing to lead our client’s construction procurement unit in Toronto. As the Director of Strategic Sourcing, you will play a pivotal role in formulating and executing purchasing strategies to ensure the timely acquisition of high-quality materials and services at competitive rates.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Develop and implement comprehensive procurement tactics, aligning them with organizational goals and industry best practices.
  • Oversee and manage the construction procurement unit, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify sourcing needs, evaluate potential suppliers, and negotiate favorable contracts.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, fostering partnerships based on trust, reliability, and shared value.
  • Continuously assess market trends and innovations to identify cost-saving opportunities and drive operational efficiencies.
  • Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions when necessary to uphold quality standards and delivery schedules.
  • Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, promoting a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Stay abreast of industry regulations and compliance requirements, ensuring adherence throughout the sourcing process.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on sourcing activities, cost savings, and performance metrics to senior management.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Proven experience in strategic sourcing and procurement management, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with a track record of achieving cost savings and optimizing supplier relationships.
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, supplier evaluation, contract negotiation, and vendor management.
  • Excellent leadership and people management abilities, inspiring teams to achieve exceptional results.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to think critically, solve complex problems, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills, managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
