Our client, a major Oil and Gas company, is looking for an Instrumentation Specialist to join their team on a 1-year contract in Fort Saskatchewan, AB.
An Instrumentation Specialist is responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems within a petrochemical facility.
This role ensures that all instrumentation and control systems are functioning efficiently and safely, contributing to the overall productivity and safety of the plant.
Key Responsibilities :
- Install and commission new instrumentation and control systems.
- Ensure all installations comply with industry standards and plant specifications.
- Perform regular maintenance and calibration of instrumentation equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all instrumentation systems.
- Diagnose and repair instrumentation and control system malfunctions.
- Provide technical support and guidance to operations and maintenance teams.
- Maintain accurate records of all instrumentation work, including maintenance logs, calibration records, and repair reports.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports on system performance and any issues encountered.
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Participate in safety audits and contribute to the development of safety procedures.
- Provide technical support during plant startups, shutdowns, and turnarounds.
- Assist in the development of training programs for plant personnel on instrumentation and control systems.
- Identify opportunities for improving instrumentation and control processes.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement process improvements and upgrades.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications in instrumentation and control systems are a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in instrumentation within the petrochemical or related industry.
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation and control systems, including PLCs, DCS, SCADA, and HMI.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting P&IDs, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
