We are hiring a full-time temporary Engineering Technologist po sition working out of Edmonton AB for up to 11 months .
This role involves providing information and advice on water and sewer servicing maintaining as-built information within the City of Edmonton and ensuring compliance with bylaws and standards.

What youd be responsible for
- Review and Compliance of Engineering and Stormwater Management Plans
Check for conflicting infrastructure and utilit ies horizontally and vertically
Coordinate with other EPCOR departments City departments utility companies and other municipalities to ensure the water and sewer services do not conflict with othe r proposed utilitiesReview utility right-of-way restrictive cov enants and land title documentsAdvice on Procedures for New Service Applications for Residential and Commercial DevelopmentsCheck plot and build plans for elevations and service connection optionsCheck for conflicting infrastructure and utilities horizontally and vertically . Advice on potential conflictsGuide the customer through the water and sewer service process by acting as the one-point contact from the development of permit application to the final service installationAccept payments for new water sanitary foundation and storm servicesCreate new jobs along with service applications and construction work order numbersSend construction orders including all required agreements within two working days of receiving paymentCollect update and maintain water and sewer as-built information through historical data and / or data requested from field personnel and update inventory systems (Posse Micro Station and Geofit ) as requiredAdvise water and sewer applicants by telephone or by written response with servicing information and other drainage related inquiriesPrepare and submit monthly servicing statisticsProvide the existing water and sewer servicing locations to utility locators developers contrac tors builders and homeownersAdvice on EPCOR and City of Edmonton standards bylaws guidelines and storm water management requirementsAssist and coordinate with other EPCOR departments and City departments by providing water and sewer service locations Water and Drainage bylaws and standards for the following :Drainage Development NotificationsEncroachmentsPark CirculationsReview and approve private development drawings and assign application numbersPerform Q&A on as-built information and make recommendations for the Final Acceptance CertificateProvide ongoing input on process improvements as it pertains to the Water and Sewer Servicing (WASS) group and the Water and Drainage Planning sectionsPrepare and send out additional water projects as required (water service abandonments renewals new service reconnections etc.)Whats required to be successful
Completion of a two - year diploma in Civil or Engineering Design & Drafting Technology (or a related field) from a r ecognized technical institution .0-3 years of directly related experience .Membership with ASET as a CET (Certified Engineering Technologist) or eligibi lity for membership .Knowledge of water and sewer systems including Engineering Design and constructio n of municipal utility services .Knowledge of construction standards and methods in th e field ( ie . MH Bridging etc.) .Knowledge of Drainage Bylaws Drainage Design & Construction Standards Lot Grading Guidelines Provincial Legislation Condo Act Zoning Bylaws EPCOR Water Construction Standar ds Building and Plumbing Codes .General knowledge of internal mechanical plumbing and building systems .Understand ing of vari ous types of engineering plans.A bility to calculate inverts obverts and crossing elevations for sanitary and storm services interpret surface contours and elevations and identify servicing conflicts through review of utility plans.As an ideal candidate you bring a strong foundation in municipal and civil design and drafting paired with excellent written and verbal communication skills that allow you to effectively engage with both the public and internal / external stakeholders. Youre confident providing technical customer service and your interpersonal and problem-solving abilities make you a valuable team player. With a high level of time management and multitasking skills you consistently meet deadlines while navigating complex challenges with professionalism and precision.

Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and based on a combination of factors as outlined in the Collective Agreement .Hours of work : 80 hours biweekly
