Dawson Co-op invites applications for the position of Ag Manager to join our team at our Home & Agro Centre located in Dawson Creek, British Columbia.
The Ag Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the Agro Department, including the management of products, order fulfillment, purchasing merchandising, staff, and inventory.
Reporting to the Home Centre Manager or designate, responsibilities for this position include the following :
- To administer and be responsible for the day-to-day and overall operations of the Agro Department including sales, margins, expenses, inventory, staffing, merchandising, and labour
- Provide information, assistance and service to customers in a manner which will promote the sale of merchandise and meet or exceed customer requirements and expectations
- Collaborate with the Agro Sales Manager to ensure the department can support sales strategy, projections, and targets, including purchasing, customer pick-up and deliveries, product assortment, etc.
- Ensure all staff adhere to standards for merchandising, housekeeping, appearance, marketing efforts, operating procedures, and loss prevention
- Remain knowledgeable in all lines of merchandise in the Agro Department and to constantly maintain a high level of product knowledge
- Initiate, prepare and place orders for replenishment of merchandise with approved suppliers
- Consistent and frequent collaboration with the Yard and Receiving teams, ensuring all relevant documentation and information is shared in a timely manner
- Ensure an exceptional level of service is provided and that service standards are consistently met by all department staff
- Ensure proper management of assets and adherence to a maintenance schedule
- Ensure adherence to the “Image Checklist” for facilities and equipment
- Give input for the annual budget and ensure claims, invoices and all other paperwork is completed in an accurate and timely manner, while following all procedure requirements
- Adhere to and enforce proper recruitment procedures
- Implement, enforce and maintain written performance expectations and standards
- Hold regular staff meetings
- Be responsible for developing a staff training plan and ensure it is followed
- Lead ongoing performance management and coaching for all department staff
- Adhere to and enforce all Dawson Co-operative Union policies and procedures
- Plan for self development and take initiative to improve own knowledge, skills and abilities
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
Minimum of grade 12 education, preference given to candidates with relevant post-secondary educationOver five years of experience in the Agriculture / ranching IndustryPrevious leadership experience and demonstrated skills leading, training, and developing a teamKnowledge of agricultural and farming productsPositive and results oriented attitudeValid Class Five drivers license with a clean abstractStrong ability to manage relationship at all levelsCompensation & Benefits :
