Our client in
York Region, ON is actively looking for a
Payroll Administrator to join their team.
The Payroll Analyst is responsible for delivering accurate and timely full-cycle payroll services for a unionized workforce. This role involves payroll balancing, preparing required statutory filings, and managing all year-end processes.
Position Overview: Responsibilities - Administer complete payroll cycles for employees across Ontario, British Columbia, and Washington State, including validating and importing time data, maintaining payroll records, handling retroactive adjustments, and preparing Records of Employment in accordance with collective agreements and apprenticeship program requirements.
- Prepare union-related reports and respond to union inquiries as needed.
- Work closely with Human Resources to update and maintain employee classifications, wage progressions, and retroactive pay adjustments.
- Support accounting functions through journal entry preparation and general ledger reconciliation for payroll-related accounts, as well as responding to ad-hoc accounting requests.
- Reconcile, prepare, and submit all required payroll filings, such as source deductions, workers' compensation premiums, employer health taxes, federal filings (/), union remittances, garnishments, retirement plan contributions, and other statutory or contractual deductions.
- Manage all year-end processes, including reconciliations and preparing Ts, Ts, and other required documents.
- Assist with internal and external audits as required.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and ensure personnel files remain current and accurate.
- Perform additional related duties to support departmental goals.
Skills and Qualifications - – years of experience in full-cycle payroll administration.
- Previous exposure to payroll processes in a unionized environment is an asset.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification required.
- Post-secondary education in business, accounting, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Experience with Jonas or similar payroll systems is beneficial.
- Strong understanding of federal, provincial, and local payroll legislation.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
