The Senior Director of Commercial Sales is a key contributor to the overall success of this enterprise. He/she will provide strong leadership, strategic insight, business planning and development for the division. Commercial customers represent a range of industries each with their own set of challenges and opportunities. The individual leading the division will need to invest in gaining an understanding of the nuances of each of these industry verticals with a view to creating lasting partnerships that are commercially viable.
Responsibilities
Business Strategy: Develop a business and operational plan which reflects a comprehensive understanding of the competitive landscape, customer expectations, and the need to achieve financial goals. The Senior Director of Commercial Sales is the ultimate authority on B2C customers and needs to understand them as well (if not better) than they understand themselves. He/she will need to create and drive the customer strategy across the country, using a partnership model. Customer-centricity is important but cannot be at the expense of profit and accountability.
Leadership: The individual will be managing a large and geographically dispersed team. He/she will need to assess the capability of the team, create a vision for the Division, share and drive the behaviors that will ultimately create success for all. Each member of the team needs to understand expectations and deliver against those expectations. The right candidate will be given an opportunity to build a highly productive work environment that creates employee engagement and pride.
Diversification:The opportunity for product and customer diversification is significant. The organization has not nearly exploited its capability to provide much more to its customers than it is known for nor capable of. While the company has a strong reputation and a significant share of certain markets, there is significant upside potential for the Division. A creative, ambitious and lateral-thinking individual can create tremendous value for this business.
Organizational Structure:The Senior Director of Commercial Sales will report directly to the President (of all business divisions). The individual will have P & L responsibility for the performance of his/her business unit and will operate with a high level of autonomy. Reporting to the Senior Director of Commercial Sales are leaders in each major market as well as individuals providing operational and customer support. The staff count is approximately 50 employees.
