JOB SUMMARY
Is responsible for the planning, designing, composing, evaluating, advising or reporting on any activity which requires the application of engineering principles in a Bruce Power facility.Maintains instructions and procedures up to date, prepare reports, review proposals from external organizations.Participates in training programs as required.Specific Accountabilities
Prepare purchase requisition, review technical content of supplier bids and technical submissionsPerform any required inspections as necessary for procurement of material.Responsible for the specification sizing of equipment, and the inter-connection to ensure satisfactory process performancePiping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)Provides guidance to junior engineers and technical staff assigned to a common taskDatasheet / Technical specification of process equipmentSupport on the general arrangement of the processValidation of subcontractors’ documentsStart-up notes and O&M manualsUses initiative and judgement in resolving problems, interprets engineering specifications, obtaining and analyzing data and designDevelop effective working relationship with colleagues, officials and associates for the purpose of discussing design problems, explaining design features and specification and other project control criteriaSolve problems by use of combinations of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignmentsConducts independent studies and analysis making interpretation and typical decisionsSkills, Knowledge and Qualifications
Working experience as a Mechanical Engineer in an EPC environment, working on nuclear, power or utilities or Bruce Power projects is considered an asset.University graduate in a related discipline (Mechanical Engineering)5+ years of related working experience in a design consulting environmentMust be capable of using flow analysis and pipe stress analysis softwareWorking experience as a Mechanical Engineer in an EPC environment, working on nuclear, power or utilities or Bruce Power projects is considered an asset.Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in OntarioSpecific knowledge in piping, and specifically alloyed piping in terms of definition, specification, calculation, sourcing, prefabrication and assembly will be considered an asset
