The Role

As a Service Technician Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our technical operations. Reporting to the Service Manager, your responsibilities will include assisting our technicians with physically demanding tasks, ensuring efficient parts delivery, meticulous documentation, safety compliance, and fostering a spirit of teamwork. To excel in this role, you must possess a valid driver's license, physical capability for heavy lifting, exceptional teamwork skills, and strong customer service and problem-solving abilities.

What you will be doing

1. Technical Support and Service Assistance

  • Provide professional and courteous assistance to our technicians.
  • Assist Service Technicians in handling heavy lifting, equipment removal, and installation tasks requiring a two-person effort.
  • Efficiently deliver essential parts to support the timely execution of service tasks.
  • Proactively report any service-related concerns to the management team.
  • 2. Documentation and Quality Assurance

  • Thoroughly inspect customer products and work areas for any existing damage, meticulously noting findings on the relevant paperwork before initiating any product handling.
  • Accurately complete all required documentation for off-site tasks, ensuring comprehensive records are maintained.
  • 3. Safety and Equipment Maintenance

  • Adhere to company and provincial safety standards by consistently wearing appropriate safety equipment and clothing during all tasks.
  • Actively report any truck or van maintenance issues to management, prioritizing the safety and functionality of company vehicles.
  • Maintain Trail Appliances equipment and manuals in excellent working condition, ensuring they are readily accessible and up-to-date.
  • Prioritize safety by consistently employing safe lifting techniques and practicing safe driving habits while on the job.
  • Uphold good housekeeping practices in both the truck or van, as well as in the shop area or the customer's home, promoting a safe and organized work environment.
  • Work harmoniously within cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
  • Requirements

  • Applicants must possess a valid driver's license, as the role will involve driving company vehicles.
  • Candidates should have the physical ability to maneuver products weighing more than 75 pounds safely and effectively, as heavy lifting and equipment handling will be required.
  • The ability to work well within a team environment is essential, as the role involves collaboration with technicians and other team members.
  • Applicants should demonstrate excellent customer service skills, as well as proficiency in mechanical problem-solving, to provide effective technical support and service assistance.
