  • Duties & Responsibilities

    Draft various court and legal documents related to affidavits, motion materials, minutes of settlement, continuing records, conference briefs, orders, etc. Prepare and assemble various briefs and other materials required for case conferences, hearings, motions, and trials. Draft various correspondence to the court, opposing counsel and external parties. Draft charts summarizing support payments and extraordinary expenses. Review and summarize various productions received from clients, opposing counsel and external parties. Prepare financial disclosure briefs. Prepare Financial and Net Family Property statements. Assist in management of uncontested divorce files from inception to completion. Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, various court trial coordinators and other external parties as required. Schedule appointments, monitor supervising lawyer calendar, respond to inquiries and requests while documenting all interactions. Other duties as required (i.e., faxing, scanning, filing).

    Qualifications

    Completion of a Law Clerk Diploma and / or a Paralegal License / Diploma. Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience as a Family Law Clerk. Thorough knowledge of and familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Clio and / or PC Law, Divorcemate, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Teams Proficient in service and filing of court documents and compliance with ongoing Notices of the Profession and filing protocols for both Superior and Ontario Court of Justice. Solid understanding of current legal terminology and working knowledge of the civil procedure court rules where applicable. Excellent communication skills and ability to adapt communication style, as necessary, when communicating with clients and other team members. Ability to multi-task with flexibility to handle increasingly more complex deadlines and demands. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
