Senior Estimator / Estimateur principal

Our client is a reputable General Contractor based in Laval, specializing in institutional, industrial, and commercial (ICI) construction projects throughout Quebec. Known for its professionalism, quality, and collaborative culture, the company is growing and looking to add a Senior Estimator to its preconstruction team.

The Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of ICI projects, from tendered bids to design-build proposals. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented construction professional with strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of building systems, and a passion for delivering high-quality work in a team environment.

• Analyze drawings, specifications, and tender documents to prepare accurate cost estimates.

• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and pricing for materials, labor, and equipment.

• Coordinate and solicit pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.

• Identify and evaluate risks, assumptions, and potential cost-saving opportunities.

• Participate in bid reviews and support management in developing competitive proposals.

• Work closely with the project management and preconstruction teams to ensure accurate project handoffs.

• Maintain and update cost databases and historical pricing records.

• Assist in mentoring junior estimators and supporting team development.

• Contribute to value engineering exercises and client presentations when required.

• 7–15 years of estimating experience with a General Contractor, ideally focused on ICI construction.

• Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and cost components.

• Proficiency in estimation and take-off software (such as OST, Procore Estimating, or similar).

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.

• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

• Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.

• Fluency in French (English is an asset).
