About the Position
Under the direction of the Camp Programmer, the Camp Leader is responsible for planning and delivering day-to-day programming and special events for children in a group setting. This Camp Leader is also responsible for the general safety, development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in their group. The incumbent will provide high-quality outdoor educational and recreational experiences for participants.

Supervise a group of campers in a day camp setting, ensuring their safety, engagement, and adherence to camp rules.
Lead campers to and from daily activities, ensuring all campers are always accounted for.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of camp policies and emergency procedures to maintain a safe and enjoyable camp experience.
Assist the Camp Programmer and Senior Camp Leaders in orienting campers to rules and expectations.
Collaborate effectively with the Recreation Coordinator, Camp Programmer, Senior Camp Leaders, peers, parents, and the public.
Support daily check-in and checkout procedures to ensure smooth transitions.
Communicate effectively with parents, addressing concerns in a timely manner and seeking guidance from the Senior Camp Leader or Camp Programmer when needed.
Provide mentorship and positive guidance to campers, modeling appropriate behavior and language.
Identify and address concerns proactively to ensure the safety and well-being of campers and staff, escalating issues to the Senior Camp Leader when necessary.
Maintain a clean, organized, and litter-free campsite environment.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
What you need to Succeed...
In the process of obtaining an education and career in Recreation and Leisure, Child and Youth Studies, Early Childhood Education, or another similar field.
Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C Certificate.
Valid High Five : Principles of Healthy Childhood Development Certification.
Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check (as per the City's Police Background Check procedure).
Strong customer service, planning, organizational, and written and oral communication skills.
Experience working with community groups and youth groups is considered an asset.
Salary and Benefit Information
Salary : $18.68 - $19.43 (2026 rate) plus OMERS pension is available.
