We are seeking a Health and Safety Student, for our Edmonton, AB district office, within our Canadian Industrial Division that is available for 4 month or 8 months starting in January, 2025 . As a Health and Safety Student, you will contribute to our team by :

Responsibilities

Assisting HSE Professionals with inspections and incidental investigations

Managing documents (i.e. data entry, SMC entries, taking minutes, filing, etc.)

Development of training materials and other documents

Reviewing paperwork (i.e. PTSP, tailgate meetings, safework procedures, trend analysis)

Monitoring and maintain the environmental program

Recognizing and following PCL and local legislative requirements

Analyzing site-specific trends and incidents and report findings to district

Gathering, reviewing, and distributing safety-related statistical information

Interpreting, communicating, and reinforcing project safety standards to project team

Qualifications

Must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate program. Preference will be given to those in a Statistics, Occupational Health and Safety, and / or Psychology program.

Knowledge of various computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to plan and employ preventative measures to reduce the risks of exposure to hazards.

Strong willingness to learn.
