The Parkland School Division has a Permanent Part-time (0.571 FTE) Education Assistant II position available at Ecole Broxton Park School, in Spruce Grove, Alberta.This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.

Position Overview :

Parkland School Division is seeking a skilled and compassionate Educational Assistant to support a student with complex needs (Autism Spectrum Disorder) in an individualized program. This role requires a candidate experienced in working with diverse behavioral and developmental needs and able to create a safe, and engaging learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a background in child and youth care or a strong foundation in positive behavior supports.

Responsibilities :

Provide targeted support to a student with complex needs in an individualized environment working as part of a team with a teacher providing individualized strategies to support behavior, social interactions, and academic engagement.

Assist the student in managing transitions, developing self-regulation skills, and participating fully in learning activities.

Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, behavioral specialists, and other Student Services staff, to align support strategies and interventions.

Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and engagement, communicating updates and observations to the team.

Foster a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment that promotes the student’s well-being and personal development.

Qualifications :

Experience working with students with complex needs in a classroom or specialized program setting.

Background in child and youth care, or related experience in positive behavior supports and behavioral intervention strategies.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a collaborative, supportive team.

Knowledge of adaptive learning strategies and techniques for students with diverse learning and behavioral profiles.

Certification as an Educational Assistant or equivalent is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications :

Training in positive behavior interventions, crisis prevention, and / or trauma-informed practices.

Experience with assistive technology or other tools designed to support individualized learning needs.

This position requires an original copy of a current clean criminal record check with vulnerable sector and an original copy of a child intervention record check.

This position is covered by the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 5543

Hours of Work : 20 hours / week (Monday to Friday)

Pay Rate : $22.25-24.98 / hr (Pay Group 2)
