The successful candidate

should have strong relationship building skills, student-centered philosophy of education, the ability to be flexible and be able to collaborate with a classroom team. Desired Qualifications / Skills : Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training or experience in trauma sensitive environments is an asset. An ability to build strong relationships with parents is essential. Experience with students with special needs. Develop goals and objectives for multi-age classrooms for students with varying physical and emotional conditions. Monitoring Behaviour patterns of children and applying appropriate interventions. An ability to tailor an individualized curriculum along an outcomes-based / outcomes-developed continuum. May be required to administer medication. An ability to develop, implement and monitor IPPs for students with mild-moderate developmental disabilities that provides sequential learning and opportunities to integrate with same-age peers in different grades. Other goals for students include increasing independence, enhancing self-esteem and improving social / interpersonal skills. Effective organizational skills and classroom management. An ability and commitment to work as a member of a team in a collaborative work environment. An ability to establish productive relationships with staff and parents. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training is an asset. A commitment to the Assessment for Learning model.
