Operational SupportProgram Assistant (TS10)EducationIvany CampusDartmouth, Nova ScotiaSchool of Health and Human ServicesContinuing Full Time Position : Commencing approximately December 9, 2024Application deadline is 11 : 59pm, November 28, 2024Competition No. 2425-389Salary range : $46,690.30 to $54,832.37 annuallyResponsibilitiesWhat you will be doing… You will provide laboratory / shop, program and administrative support for the Medical Laboratory Technology program.You will maintain the laboratory / shop by managing the lab / shop environment, media and / or equipment preparation, and maintenance of the inventory system for lab / shop supplies. Additionally, you will assist with lab / shop demonstrations; provide administrative preparation for the lab / shop, assist with technology needs, including computers; and work with students, Faculty and staff in a laboratory / shop setting.You will also assist in classroom and lab / shop demonstrations and prepare projects and mock-ups in advance of the need. You will assist Faculty with the safe operation of tools and equipment and safe work practices.QualificationsQualifications and Occupational Experience : The minimum educational qualification for this position is a relevant post-secondary diploma or certification in Medical Laboratory Assistant (or equivalent) and have certification with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS).In addition, you possess training in WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety regulations as well as Standard First Aid, CPR and discipline relevant safety training or you have a willingness to obtain within the first year.You have a minimum of five years (full time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in Medical Laboratory Assistant in a broad range of clinical laboratory settings.You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, and E-Mail.You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work.Experience in training / facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation would be considered an asset.Experience supporting / providing service to students and prospective students would be considered an asset.Relevant Skills and Knowledge You demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusionYou possess excellent interpersonal skills and are able to interact at all levels of an organizationYou are known for your superior customer service skills and can create a relationship of trust beyond the immediate interactionYour superb team working skills enable you to contribute positively to a team environmentYou have specific technical occupational knowledge and skill in the maintenance of laboratory equipment, inventory management, laboratory safety and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG).You are known for your problem solving and critical thinking skillsYou are a strong communicator.You possess excellent coordination skills specifically related to Faculty support and program operational needs.You have proven records and information management skills and abilities specifically related to laboratory processes including document management and Laboratory Information Systems.You have a proven ability to complete required tasks within a defined timeframe independently and with minimal supervision.About Nova Scotia Community CollegeWe value Diversity and InclusionThe College values diversity and inclusion and is committed to employment equity.
