Job Description
Take charge of our day-to-day operations, ensuring we remain the trusted source for aviation repair and maintenance. Work with your team to implement processes that help maintain flight and product efficiency.
Nature & Scope of Position
A Bench Operator is part of the Sub‑Assembly Repair, Blending, and Epoxy teams. These individuals repair engine components (PT6, JT15D, PW100) and prepare them for inspection and installation following Pratt & Whitney Canada Overhaul manuals and Engineering Repair Instructions (ERIs).
Responsibilities
- Disassemble inserts, pins and sleeves.
- Prepare and install sleeves and inserts using freezing and heating techniques.
- Perform flush flow and pressure tests in accordance with P&WC manuals.
- Control and issue materials (inventory).
- Disassembly, replacement and final assembly of various engine parts.
- Repair and install engine parts according to ERI or manual specifications.
- Test and inspect fuel surge accumulator per component maintenance manual.
- Perform rear housing PCU port repair.
- Detail finish (deburr) parts after machining using hand and rotary tools.
- Blend and polish to remove nicks, burrs and scratches from components.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance per schedule.
- Maintain tools and equipment used in this department.
- Perform all other duties as necessary.
- Training will be provided.
- Position will be subject to shift work and overtime.
- Model behaviors consistent with quality, health, safety, and environmental management practices.
Qualifications
Minimum grade 12 with related post‑secondary education or equivalent work experience.Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience with related procedures is considered an asset.Ability to use hand tools.Strong mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and fine motor skills.Basic computer skills.Good written and oral communication skills.Motivated individual who is goal‑oriented.Working Environment
Safety : Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required (e.g., safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection, gloves, mask or respirator).Weight handling : Ability to safely maneuver parts up to 50 lb occasionally and 20 lb frequently.Tools and equipment : PPE required (safety shoes, glasses, gloves, etc.).Work conditions : Standing, pulling, bending, crouching, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing, grasping, sitting, computer use, and specialty tools; occasional vibration, hot ovens, chemicals; willingness to walk across facility.Worksite environment : Shop environment with humidity, chemicals, and odors.Benefits
