Staff Accountant – Mt. Vernon, IN
This role is primarily responsible for general accounting functions including preparing journal entries, maintaining ledgers, and reconciliation and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Assist with month and year-end closings and reporting (reconciliation and analysis of general and subsidiary ledgers, variances, accruals, and prepays).
- Maintain daily and / or recurring accounting transactions (journal entries, accruals, prepaid schedules).
- Assist with safeguarding company assets, including maintaining fixed asset records.
- File property tax returns and establish monthly accruals.
- Assist in confirming authorized credit approval for new customers.
- Review and resolve aging accounts.
- Review and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
- Prepare, analyze, and communicate findings on various reports (management requests, regulatory compliance, statistics).
- Assist with various audits (audit schedules and coordination with external or government auditors).
- Assist with daily tasks and special projects as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education : Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required). Bachelor’s Degree preferred.Experience : None required. Experience in related industry preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; strong use of database and spreadsheet applications such as Excel.Working knowledge of accounting theory and practice (fixed assets, receivables, cash processes, reconciliation, financial statements).Basic knowledge of accounting and financial software programs.Basic knowledge of sales and tax use.Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with ability to interact at all levels.Strong analytical skills.Strong organizational and prioritization skills with ability to remain flexible to changing priorities.Strong attention to detail.Ability to prepare clear and concise oral and written reports.Ability to work both autonomously and within a team environment.Physical Demands & Requirements
Light work : exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, or a negligible amount constantly.Hearing : perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels.Vision : close visual acuity to perform analysis, transcribing, reading, and inspecting small parts.Environment : indoor office with moderate noise, normal heat or cold, and a normal office environment.Travel : up to 15% within supported region(s).Compensation and Benefits
Base pay range : $54,112.00 – $65,774.00 (actual pay offers may vary).
