Position : Assistant Retail Store Manager
Location : Brampton, ON (On-site)
Salary : $50,000 - $55,000 per year
Our client is a growing consumer goods brand with a strong retail presence, known for delivering a high-quality customer experience. The Retail Store Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting the Store Manager in all aspects of managing the day-to-day retail operations in compliance with company objectives and procedures while enhancing brand image. The Assistant Manager’s main goal is to create and maintain a high-performing, functional yet welcoming store environment, with a focus on courteous customer service excellence.
The Assistant Manager’s duty is to maintain a set standard of professional image and service on a day-to-day basis among all staff members.
Responsibilities : Store Operations
- Assist with optimizing store sales and increasing profitability to achieve agreed store goals and performance targets
- Support the Store Manager with daily operations and help lead the sales floor to meet store goals
- Assist with smooth and financially accurate retail operations, including daily updates of store sales logs, cash reconciliation, and cash variances
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe work area according to procedures and safety policies
- Tour the sales floor regularly, engage with colleagues and customers, and resolve urgent issues while ensuring adequate staffing during peak business hours
- Support merchandising execution by assigning tasks, maintaining displays, and ensuring promotional signage / materials are set correctly
- Organize and prepare for special promotions, displays, launches, and store events as needed
- Assist with reporting on sales, inventory, and team performance; provide updates to internal stakeholders / head office as required
- Help identify recurring operational issues, support corrective actions, and contribute to improvements in store routines and execution
Staff Management
Assist with managing staff through effective scheduling, training, coaching, and retention strategiesProvide leadership and support through regular feedback, performance accountability, and ongoing developmentSupport onboarding of new hires and ensure employees are trained on store routines, policies, health & safety, and cash handling proceduresHelp create staff schedules and ensure shifts are properly coveredPromote a positive, professional, and team-driven culture, stepping in for the Store Manager when requiredAssist with supporting loss prevention practices and ensuring adherence to internal processes and proceduresInventory Management
Assist with managing inventory by controlling stock levels, overseeing orders, and ensuring appropriate merchandise availabilityManage weekly stock orders and ensure store supplies are maintainedSupport stock accuracy through cycle counts, inventory handling, and troubleshooting stock discrepancies as neededAssist with inventory counts and ensure proper receiving, storage, and stockroom organizationHelp manage inventory expectations and performance metrics, supporting continuous improvement in inventory processesCustomer Management
Maintain the company’s standard of customer service and professionalism, and resolve customer issues as they ariseLead by example in delivering exceptional customer experiences and support team members in doing the sameHandle escalated customer concerns calmly and professionallySupport strong customer relationships by training staff on service expectations and identifying customer needsStay informed on new products, promotions, and launches to ensure accurate product knowledge and customer supportHead Office Communications
Assist the Store Manager in reporting with accurate and timely submission of sales, staff, financial, and inventory updates as requiredCommunicate with internal teams regarding store needs, product updates, promotions, and store execution prioritiesAssist with offering suggestions for improvements in operations, promotions, and overall store performanceQualifications :
Minimum of 2 years of retail management experience or customer-facing leadership experiencePost-secondary education required, preferred in Business or a related fieldProven ability to coach, train, and develop employeesStrong operations experience in retail sales, inventory, merchandising, cash handling, and store routinesComfortable with keyholder responsibilities including opening and closing dutiesExperience with retail systems (NetSuite or similar) considered an assetExperience with textured haircare or beauty products is considered an assetExperience supporting events, promotions, or in-store launches is an assetWe appreciate the interest from all candidates; however, we will be contacting only those that best fit our client’s requirements.
