Responsibilities : The Accessibility Coordinator supports students with disabilities by coordinating academic accommodations, support services, and well‑being initiatives. The role ensures equitable access through individualized planning, advocacy, and close collaboration across the College community.
Key Responsibilities :
- Coordinate andimplement disability‑related accommodations to support equitable student learning
- Interpret a range of disability‑related assessments to inform supports and planning
- Develop individualized education plans outlining strategies, accommodations, and learning supports
- Provide ongoing student advocacy and guidance throughout their academic journey
- Arrange and oversee support services such as note takers, interpreters, scribes, and tutors
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to address accessibility concerns and remove barriers
- Deliver training and workshops on supporting students with disabilities
- Promote mental health and well‑being initiatives across the campus community
- Maintain data and reporting systems to track service effectiveness and inform improvements
- Advance Universal Design practices within programs and services
- Participate in committees and institutional initiatives related to accessibility, diversity, and inclusion
- Other duties of similar scope and complexity as required
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in a related discipline along with a 2-3 years directly related experience, including professional communication and database system use. An equivalent combination of education and office experience may be considered.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities include :
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field (Master’s preferred)Minimum three years of experience supporting students with disabilities in a postsecondary environmentStrong knowledge of the theory and practice to support Mental Health and Wellbeing in a post-secondary environmentExperience with adaptive technologies and curriculum modificationAbility to design and deliver effective programming for diverse learnersDemonstrated sensitivity and responsiveness to diverse student needs and perspectivesStrong presentation, workshop facilitation, and communication skillsProven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
