The Role
triple j is looking for a passionate and strategic Music Director to lead our music curation and programming shaping what our young music-loving audience hears across the network.
In this role youll set the musical direction across triple js linear and digital platforms mentor a talented team of music programmers and help drive our music vision both internally and across the broader Australian music industry.
Youll be among the first to hear the best new music from Australia and around the world working closely with the Manager Music Programming to bring it to our audience in fresh and exciting ways.
From Ausmusic Month and the Hottest 100 to live recordings and outside broadcasts youll play a key role in some of triple js biggest moments. With your deep understanding of music trends scheduling systems and the Australian music industry youll help make sure the music triple j supports hits the mark with listeners nationwide.
This year marks 50 years of triple j and we remain as passionate as ever about championing local artists and delivering fresh music events and content for young people across the country. This role is central to delivering some of our biggest programs and helping us back and break the next generation of Australian artists in 2025 and beyond.

About You
Were looking for a passionate and experienced music professional with a deep understanding of the Australian music landscape and a sharp editorial instinct. Youll bring proven experience in music programming whether in radio or streaming and a strong ability to identify standout content across diverse genres.
Your technical expertise with digital broadcast systems and scheduling tools like G Selector and Zetta will be essential along with your ability to lead and mentor a team. Youll be highly organised thrive under pressure and have a genuine commitment to diversity and inclusion in music storytelling.
