You will partner with a small, agile legal team and cross-functional stakeholders to draft and negotiate commercial agreements, advise on legal and regulatory issues, and drive efficiency across the business. Key Responsibilities Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements with clients, vendors, and strategic partners to enable business growth while mitigating risk.* Advise business leaders, sales management, and product teams on commercial, legal, and regulatory issues, ensuring alignment among business objectives, legal and regulatory requirements, and enterprise policies.* Assist in updating and streamlining of legal templates and documentation to improve usability, clarity, and consistency across the business, as necessary.* Collaborate with Information Security, Product, Technology, Sales, and other Business Units to support strategic initiatives and resolve legal issues efficiently. Required Qualifications Juris Doctor (or equivalent law degree) and bachelor's degree and admission or eligibility to practice law in at least one jurisdiction in the Americas region.* 5–8 years of post-qualification experience in commercial law, with exposure to technology and / or financial services.* Proven ability to draft and negotiate complex commercial technology contracts for global businesses.* Experience advising business teams on commercial, legal, and regulatory issues.* Excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate complex legal concepts for diverse, non-legal audiences and work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Preferred Qualifications Admission or eligibility to practice in Newfoundland & Labrador or Ontario.* Familiarity with (or strong desire to learn) data privacy and cybersecurity law, AI technology, and emerging legal issues in technology commercialization.* Experience using contract lifecycle management (CLM) platforms.* Background in financial services, fintech, or highly regulated industries.This position will be located in St. John's or Toronto and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment (at least three (3) days a week in-office), subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.
