Company Description

At A & A, we’re looking for individuals with a willingness to learn and grow within the customs brokerage and logistics industry and who are obsessed with exceeding customer expectations and providing best-in-class support to our customers. As part of the A & A Operations team, you'll represent the A & A brand, values, and promise.

Reporting to the Canadian Operations Manager, this position is internally referred to as a Customs Clearance Coordinator and is responsible for the prompt and accurate processing of customs clearances for our highway, rail, and ocean shipments electronically. This includes, but is not limited to, data entry, research, and working with various stakeholders (customers, carriers, suppliers, Customs, and internal team members).

As part of the Operations Release team, the Customs Clearance Coordinator serves as the primary contact for our Canadian customers.

Job Description

Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Handling general inquiries professionally (internally and externally) over the phone, in person, or through email
  • Review documentation and prepare customs release entries for processing
  • Communicate with customers to clear shipments, close entries, provide updates, and resolve paperwork issues and customs holds
  • Handle and resolve difficult or challenging situations while maintaining first-class service to all internal and external customers
  • Maintain strong knowledge of all ports across the USA and Canada
  • Assign correct tariff classifications (HTSUS)
  • Assist in ensuring that all entries are released, classified, and billed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Responsible for ensuring that Canadian customs regulations are adhered to when completing import and export documents to facilitate the movement of cross-border shipments
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Previous customs entry release experience
  • Experience processing entries across different modes of transportation (highways, rail, air, ocean) is an asset
  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation or Licensed Customs Broker designation (LCB) is an asset
  • High work standards, high level of accuracy
  • Ability to handle large volumes of work and meet tight deadlines
  • Works well independently
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Quick learner and a desire to learn
  • Results-driven
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong communication skills
