Job Description:

This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for building the accounting infrastructure. The successful candidate will oversee the transition from QuickBooks to a more robust real estate accounting platform (likely Newstar/REMS) and ensure all financial processes, controls, and reporting frameworks are properly implemented from day one.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and manage the full accounting function for a new real estate entity
• Lead the migration from QuickBooks to a real estate-specific system
• Establish financial controls, reporting structures, and month-end processes
• Support transaction-related financial requirements tied to asset sales
• Work closely with senior leadership and external advisors

Job Requirements:

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Controller or Director of Finance in real estate
• CPA Designation
• Strong understanding of development, construction, or property accounting
• Experience implementing or migrating to real estate accounting systems (Newstar REMS an asset)
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced, build-from-scratch environment
• Strong communication and leadership skills
