Our client is a small EPC located in Calgary that provide services for small to medium-sized energy projects in Canada and the US. Currently looking for an Electrical Engineer to work on multiple small projects. The Medium Voltage Electrical Engineer will work with multiple disciplines to ensure all engineering activities are accomplished.
Duties will include :
Doing Motor schematics
Interfacing with utility companies
Develop single lines, three-line diagrams and relay schematics.
Develop specifications and data sheets for MV equipment such as transformers, switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, capacitor banks and other medium voltage equipment.
Size power feeders for medium voltage feeders.
Design and analyze medium voltage electrical systems (up to 13.8kV) for oil and gas facilities.
Doing Relay settings
Perform ETAP power system studies, including load flow, short circuit calculations, ground fault rise, coordination curves, arc flash calculations and feeder ampacity calculations.
Specify protection relays and provide relay settings and breaker settings.
Develop RFQ packages for specifying and purchasing electrical equipment.
Review of electrical equipment vendor drawings.
Coordinate with other disciplines, clients, vendors and construction crews to provide support.
Offer technical support and advice to technologists.
Effective written and verbal communication skills including the ability to clearly present information to various audiences in both formal and informal settings
Write full reports
Top Skills
10+ years experience as an electrical engineer in power engineering projects, preferably in oil and gas projects
P.Eng registered with APEGA
Medium voltage experience (1000V up to 13.8 kV and 38KV)
Small EPC background
Experience specifying, purchasing and vendor review of the following equipment : MV Switchgear & MCCs, LV MCC, MV VFDs
Experience creating single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams and cable sizes
Knowledge of applicable federal, provincial, and local building codes and safety laws, especially the CEC codes
Working knowledge of IEEE, NFPA, and ANSI / ISA
Can perform ETAP power system studies (load flow, short circuit, ground fault rise, coordination curves, arc flash, ampacity calculations).
Additional Qualifications

Experience communicating with clients
Experience putting together non-technical bid spreads
Relay programming (they can outsource this to another company)
Site / commissioning experience

Collaborative and open to 3 days in office minimum

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $88.00 - $92.00 / hr.
