The Department of Economics in the Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto, St. George Campus invites applications for up to three full-time tenure stream appointments in the area of General Economics.
The appointments will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025.
Candidates must have earned a PhD in Economics or related area by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching in Economics.
We will consider candidates who specialize in International Economics, Behavioral Economics, Econometrics or applied economists whose research focuses on structural empirical methods.
We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement our existing . The successful candidate will be expected to pursue innovative and independent research at the highest international level, and to establish an outstanding, competitive, externally funded research program.
The position comes with both undergraduate and graduate teaching responsibilities. More broadly, candidates are expected to contribute actively to the intellectual life of the department.
Candidates must provide evidence of excellence in research of the highest international caliber, which can be demonstrated by an innovative job market paper with a significant contribution to the literature, strong recommendations by referees of high standing, the submitted research statement, high quality working papers, a record of publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, presentations at significant conferences, accolades, and awards.
Evidence of excellence in teaching will be provided through teaching accomplishments, strong letters of reference, the teaching dossier including a statement of teaching philosophy, sample syllabi, and teaching evaluations, or other evidence of superior performance in teaching-related activities submitted as part of the application.
Other teaching-related activities can include performance as a teaching assistant or course instructor, experience leading successful workshops or seminars, student mentorship, and excellent conference presentations or posters.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
