VCS Engineering – Queens University Summer 2026 Internship Opportunity

This paid internship , running from May through the end of August 2026 , puts you in the field alongside experienced engineers and technicians, working on active projects across diverse and challenging environments.
What You’ll Work On
Gain exposure to a wide range of infrastructure projects, including :
- Bridges
- Parking garages
- Power dams
- Mining and industrial structures
You’ll play an active role in on-site evaluations, condition assessments, and field investigations—applying advanced techniques in concrete repair and rehabilitation while gaining meaningful, real-world engineering experience.
Your Responsibilities
Conduct condition assessments and structural investigationsUtilize a variety of non-destructive testing (NDT) methodsInstall and troubleshoot instrumentation in the fieldCollect accurate field measurements and maintain detailed documentationWork hands-on with skilled technicians during testing and data collectionApply advanced NDT techniques such as ground-penetrating radar and corrosion potential testingPrepare clear, professional reports that meet our high-quality standards and exceed client expectationsSupport our Engineering and Project Management teams throughout active projectsIf you’re enthusiastic, curious, and eager to learn while working on infrastructure that truly matters, this internship will give you the experience and exposure to launch your career with confidence.
Requirements
Strong academic performance with a solid foundation in engineering principlesExcellent communication and problem-solving skillsA genuine interest in civil infrastructure and hands-on, field-based workCompletion of at least one year of undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or GeophysicsWillingness to travel extensively across Canada , with travel expected 60%–80% of the timeCommitment to safety — selected candidates must successfully pass a drug screening , as we maintain a drug- and alcohol-free workplaceApplicants must be currently enrolled at Queen’s University or be a graduate of Queen’s University.Must be legally entitled to work and travel in CanadaBenefits
