The Opportunity

We’re a growing media and technology company looking for a highly detail‑oriented QA Analyst / Specialist to take clear ownership of quality across our entire software ecosystem.

This role is for someone who is comfortable going through software with a fine‑tooth comb, identifying issues others miss, and clearly calling out what needs to change so it can be fixed properly.

You’ll be testing a complex, real‑world platform that includes :

Windows desktop application

Web portal

Mobile app

Photo & video capture, processing, and delivery

Scheduling, registration, and data tabulation systems

Emerging AI‑driven features

Key Responsibilities

Cross-Platform Functional Testing

Execute deep functional, integration, and regression testing across Windows desktop, web (cross‑browser), and mobile applications.

Validate data flow, system interactions, and failure points across platforms.

Photo & Video Quality Assurance

Test media capture, file handling, exports, uploads, and playback.

Surface issues related to file corruption, large or inconsistent file sizes, low‑resolution or degraded media, and failed / partial / delayed uploads.

Data Validation & Tabulation

Test scheduling, registration, and tabulation logic.

Validate calculations, totals, rankings, and record integrity.

Flag discrepancies and suggest actionable fixes.

Test Planning & Ownership

Design and maintain structured test plans, test cases, and scripts.

Translate product requirements into practical test scenarios.

Improve test coverage based on observed issues.

Defect Reporting & Follow-Through

Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects using Jira and Azure.

Ensure defects are reproducible, properly scoped, and actionable.

Speak up when fixes are incomplete or introduce regressions.

Task Coordination & Development Support

Assist in organizing, prioritizing, and tracking QA findings.

Help break down larger issues into actionable development tasks.

Support sprint planning and backlog grooming from a risk perspective.

Monitor task progress and flag stalled or under‑scoped work.

Real-World & Production Environment Testing

Test under real‑world conditions : unreliable networks, large data volumes, time-sensitive workflows.

Identify failure modes that occur in live production.

Validate recovery after crashes, power loss, network drops, or partial data writes.

Evaluate usability and error messaging for non‑technical operators.

Collaboration & Communication

Work closely with CTO, Project Manager, and Developers.

Communicate findings clearly and respectfully.

Advocate for software quality and integrity.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

3+ years of professional QA or software testing experience.

Mandatory experience with at least one of : photo or video processing software, media file handling systems, data-heavy or tabulation-driven applications.

Proven experience testing Windows desktop, web, and mobile applications.

Strong attention to detail and structured thinking.

Comfortable raising concerns and defending quality decisions.

Nice-to-Have (Assets)

Experience with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress).

Database testing experience using SQL.

QA certifications (e.g., ISTQB).

Compensation

$85,000 – $95,000 CAD, based on experience and domain expertise.
