MECHANIC
POSITION SUMMARY :
Recognized for the quality of its products and services, the Société du Vieux-Port de Montréal (SVPM) manages a large recreational and tourist site. As a Mechanic, you will ensure the proper functioning of the company’s vehicles and motorized equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS :

- Hourly rate: $28.01 (Class 4)
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES :
Mechanical Maintenance
- Ensure compliance with the preventive maintenance program for vehicles and equipment using software or maintenance manuals
- Perform repairs and maintenance on company vehicles and equipment
- Inform users of repair timelines
- Maintain the safety and appearance of fleet vehicles according to company standards and image
- Provide advice to other departments regarding vehicle and machinery operation
- Perform minor aesthetic repairs on fleet vehicles and equipment
- Carry out various welding tasks on vehicles, equipment, and tools
- May be required to work with specialized equipment
General Mechanics
- Design and monitor preventive maintenance schedules for vehicles and equipment
- Manage inventory of materials and equipment
- Prepare lists of required part numbers and suppliers for repairs and submit to the storekeeper for purchase
- Contact suppliers for warranty claims and for estimates, repairs, or fabrication
- Estimate costs for preventive maintenance programs
- Obtain approval for expenses from the supervisor
Maintenance Services
- Fabricate items to facilitate storage, work organization, or improve tool efficiency
- Modify certain aspects of tools to enhance their effectiveness
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE :
- Diploma in general automotive mechanics
- 1 year of experience in general automotive mechanics (including electronic injection and diesel/hydraulic systems)
- Bilingualism: English (Level 2)
- Valid driver’s license
- Basic computer skills
- Knowledge of bodywork and painting (an asset)
