The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team facilitates and advances person-centered care through evidence-based professional practice and learning strategies and programs that are designed provincially and implemented locally to enhance collaborative learning and practice. The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team takes a leadership role in creating a culture of collaboration with a focus on team-based care, evidence-informed practice, and learning and professional development to improve health outcomes for patients, families and communities. Through strong partnerships with the academic sector, regulators, and government, the Interprofessional Practice and Learning team has an integral role in influencing and operationalizing health system priorities.

About the Opportunity

Under the general supervision of the Manager of Provincial Health Library Services, this position will support various aspects of the library’s overall operational needs :

  • Access Services
  • Training & Education
  • Copyright & Permissions
  • Web Presence & Engagement
  • Patient Education Materials
  • Content Management
  • Literature Search

Major Responsibilities - Supporting outcomes for multiple operational needs such as :

  • Subject Guides
  • Patient Education Publications
  • Educational / Training Content
  • Internal / External Communications
  • Content Management in HTML Environment, Shore Point, etc.
  • Drawing upon skills such as :

  • Experience with management of digital content
  • Management of email inboxes supporting workflow processes
  • Critical thinking skills supporting systems and process outcomes
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative, and decision-based working environment
  • HTML coding skills; database management skills
  • Application of plain language and editorial copyediting standards
  • Graphic design / layout skills
  • Customer service skills on site & Virtual patrons with technical troubleshooting
  • Please note this position is a hybrid position, which will require travel to the Nova Scotia Hospital - Hugh Bell Library location at a minimum once per week on a regular basis. A valid driver’s license and access to transportation is required.

    About You

    We would love to hear from you if you have the following :

  • Successful completion of a recognized Library and Information Technician Program required
  • Undergraduate degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years library experience or equivalent required
  • Recent Health Science Library experience preferred
  • Completion of a medical terminology course an asset
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Products, HTML coding, database management, CANVA, and e-learning authoring software preferred
  • Working knowledge of intellectual property legislation and regulations, including copyright, database licensing
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently following written or verbal instructions and guidelines with minimum supervision, recognizing when it is appropriate to ask questions and refer issues.
  • Ability to develop working relationships with counterparts within the organization
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate in a sensitive, courteous manner with a customer service focus
  • Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred
  • Willingness to travel within the province for assigned duties

    Hours

    Permanent, Part-Time (37.5 hours biweekly)

    Compensation and Benefits

    25.34 - $28.69 hourly

    24,710 - $27,970 annually

    29.66 hourly ($28,920 annually) with 25 years' service.

    Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
