The position requires a Therapeutic Recreationist for the Assessment Reintegration Program (ARP). You will report to the clinical manager of CGPB and will assess, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized and group therapeutic recreation programs, as well as provide functional and strength‑based social skill programs that support and encourage treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery programming. You will contribute to each patient’s Plan of Care as an integral part of the interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ recreational needs and therapeutic goals.
- Develop individualized and group recreational activity plans.
- Implement and evaluate therapeutic recreation programs.
- Provide functional and strength‑based social skill sessions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team and community agencies.
- Maintain regular attendance and meet physical demands of the position.
- Deliver services to areas within the hospital as required.
- Document and report progress to support patient care planning.
Qualifications & Requirements
Degree or diploma in Therapeutic Recreation and at least 2 years of related professional experience.Knowledge of current therapeutic recreation practices, theories, and methodologies.Current TRO membership required; registration with TRO preferred.Knowledgeable of recovery and mental illness treatment practices.Experience implementing appropriate treatment, leisure education, and participation programs.Experience working in a mental health setting; preference for candidates with developmental disability knowledge / experience.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and computer skills.Valid driver’s licence.CPR Level HCP (Health Care Provider) certification.This is a 12‑month contract position.
