Responsibilities
- Carrying out project execution, proposal, and pavement design report / geotechnical investigation report preparation, with oversight and support by a senior pavement / geotechnical engineer
- Developing field work plans / programs for borehole, coring, and test pitting investigations
- Conducting pavement condition surveys on flexible, rigid, surface treated and gravel pavements
- Carrying out pavement / geotechnical investigations including borehole and core logging, sampling of asphalt, concrete and subgrade soils, as required
- Conducting pavement data processing and analysis and pavement designs for new construction, reconstruction, rehabilitation, widening, and resurfacing using state-of-the-art strategies
- Conducting geotechnical engineering assessments and analyses for a range of project types including shallow foundations for buildings, retaining walls, culverts, and storm sewers
- Executing projects to gain experience in project management, preparing invoices, and monitoring project budgets throughout the duration
What you will bring to the team
Bachelor’s degree in Pavement Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or Material EngineeringPost-graduate degree in relevant field is an assetMinimum 3 years of experience in Pavement / Geotechnical Engineering, with at least 2 years in the consulting industry in Ontario preferredExperience with and interest in pavement evaluation, investigation, design, and asset managementAbility to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals, present information clearly, and respond to questions conciselyExperience with AASHTO 1993 and MEPDG methods for designing flexible and rigid pavementsFamiliar with pavement-related MTO OPSS, OPSD, SPs and Municipal standardsMaintaining involvement in professional organizations is encouragedProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)Professional Engineer License is an assetValid G Class Ontario Driver’s LicenseBonus qualifications
Practical knowledge of statistics, numerical modeling and computational methods for data analysis and quality managementExperience in providing pavement designs to the MTO and MunicipalitiesHigh proficiency with current pavement / geotechnical design software applicationsProject management experience and technical expertise with pavement analysis / engineering / design projects using Municipal standards, MTO, and AASHTO methodsAbility and willingness to be mobile and travel for work as neededAs a diverse and inclusive organization, we encourage individual achievement and recognize the strength of a diverse workforce.
