Municipal Worker 1 - Parks Summer Student

Term of Employment : Full‑Time, Summer Term (May 4, 2026 – August 21, 2026)

Rate of Pay : $18.05 per hour (Subject to CUPE 1015 Agreement)

Location : Parks & Green Spaces Team (Budmiller All Seasons Park, Parks General and Lloydminster Golf & Curling Club)

Duties

The Municipal Worker 1 performs a variety of parks and open‑space maintenance, including all activities associated with turf, tree, flower and shrub bed maintenance, throughout the City of Lloydminster, in a safe and efficient manner. Duties may also include the care of sports fields, playgrounds, and other city amenities. The Municipal Worker 1 will participate in the City of Lloydminster’s Safety Management System. Other relevant duties may be assigned as required.

Schedule

Normal working hours are Monday to Friday 7 : 00 a.m. to 3 : 30 p.m. with the occasional requirement to work outside these hours, including weekend rotation. LGCC start time can vary from 5 : 00 a.m. to 7 : 00 a.m. depending on departmental needs.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Vehicle Operator’s License (registered in Alberta or Saskatchewan) with a clear driver’s abstract.
• Must be in good physical condition.
• Previous experience operating riding lawnmowers, push lawnmowers and string trimmers will be considered an asset.
• The ability to lift up to 25 kg (50 lbs).
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• This position is contingent on receiving a satisfactory criminal record check prior to the start date.

Special Instructions

Applicants must be attending a post‑secondary program (college or university) during the last school term and returning to studies in the subsequent academic year. Verification of student status will be required.
