The Role
We have partnered with a well-established organization in Brantford, to hire a CAD Designer. This role is ideal for someone with experience in CAD design, technical drawings, and storage system design who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This is a 6-month contract with potential for permanent employment.
Reporting to the Design Manager, this position plays a key role in developing storage system designs from concept through installation, collaborating closely with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, IT, and vendors to ensure projects are delivered accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities
Convert customer requests into simple to moderate storage system designs that optimize warehouse space utilizationPrepare accurate CAD drawings for presentation, installation, PSR / permit, and fabrication purposes using AutoCAD 2024, ensuring compliance with company and engineering standardsPrepare bills of materials and project costing; source approved suppliers and create cost-effective, optimized designsAssist in processing customer orders and vendor purchases in coordination with the sales and plant teamsAct as the design Subject Matter Expert during installations to resolve technical issues and provide innovative solutionsParticipate in peer reviews as required to ensure accurate drawings and bills of materialsContribute to special projects that support design capabilities, including maintaining AutoCAD blocks, design standards, and design automation initiativesConduct site evaluations and measurements as needed, up to moderate project complexityCommunicate effectively with customers, vendors, internal teams, and installers throughout the project lifecycleMaintain technical competence through self-study and participation in offered training opportunitiesRequirements
Post-secondary technical education (degree, diploma, or certificate) in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related fieldStrong working knowledge of AutoCAD 2024 and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)Experience in storage system or warehouse design preferredStrong analytical skills with a focus on material flow, facility layout, and cost-effective solutionsAttention to detail, self-checking of designs, and strong problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneouslyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsFlexible, resourceful, punctual, and team-oriented with a strong work ethicCustomer-centric approach and ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders#INDSTRIVEON
