It’s an exciting time to join our team. The co‑op position is designed to familiarize students with the concepts, tasks, and processes a Distribution Line Technician (DLT) performs. Students work with a DLT mentor and perform entry‑level tasks such as power system model building, equipment data attributes, protection curves and sequences.

General Accountabilities

• Working knowledge of writing software with Python and JavaScript.
• Carry out engineering studies on Distribution Power System protective co‑ordination, voltage regulation and related tasks to minimize uncontrollable service interruption.
• Acquire, scrutinize and calculate data for engineering analysis tools, ensuring it is suitable for entry.
• Determine applicability of data produced from engineering analysis tools and perform impact studies, DER studies and prepare customer load connection requirements.
• Utilize computers, engineering software and ancillary equipment to facilitate work functions.
• Assist with coding of electrical engineering supporting software.
• Recommend improvements to computer programs / software and related engineering tools, submit reports to supervisor or authority for review and approval.
• Perform other duties as required.

Academic Level : 3rd or 4th year post‑secondary student

Discipline : Computer Engineering / Software Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Computer Science
