This role is responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining a CNC Lathe to machine precision parts according to drawings and specifications. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for programming, measuring, inspecting and ensuring high-quality production within specified tolerances while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. Duties may also include occasional operation of a variety of machines that cut, bend, roll or otherwise shape metal as well as the operation of forklifts or other power mobile equipment.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, charts and tables
- Use G-code to assist in troubleshooting, optimizing, or running manual data input commands.
- Compute dimensions, tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces
- Set-up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including CNC tools to perform precision machining operations
- Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
- Ensure the cleanliness and deburring on parts as required
- Use a variety of manufacturing equipment to fabricate steel (industrial bends, plasma cutters, cut to length machines, etc.) as needed
- Set up and operate other key equipment in the fabrication department (Plasma table, Laser, Presses, brakes, rollers) as needed
- Arrange parts and staging of materials
- Propose potential quality or productivity enhancements
- Review of finished parts to ensure accuracy against drawings
- Report fabrication issues and assist in resolutions as required.
