About the Role :
Our Corporate Accounting Team has an exciting career opportunity for you in our Toronto office. Reporting to the AVP, Financial reporting and Accounting, you will work as part of a dynamic team and will have exposure to compensation accounting, various subsidiaries, financial statement preparation and variance analysis. We are seeking a team-oriented individual who has a focused, detail-oriented approach to completing tasks and is inquisitive and thoughtful.
Your Responsibilities :
- Oversee the preparation of quarterly and annual subsidiary financial statements and liaise with external auditors on accounting policy formulation and disclosure alternatives as required
- Prepare monthly and quarterly subsidiary financial and board reporting packages
- Prepare schedules used to support the quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements
- Accountable for development and maintenance of various financial reports
- Support external and internal auditors’ inquiries on a quarterly and annual basis
- Oversight of monthly compensation processes including journal entries, reconciliations and supporting documentation with primary focus on payroll, stock compensation and related entries
- Coordinate with AGF Compensation and Benefits to prepare month-end journal entries, including reconciliations and related analysis
- Prepare variance analysis on financial results, comparing actual results to budget, forecast and prior year. Analysis includes an understanding of the key revenue and expense drivers of the business. Act as a point person for any queries.
- Provide accounting research and analysis of significant contracts and complex accounting transactions as required
- Manage the compensation forecasting and budgeting process, including communicating with business partners, updating compensation inputs and understanding and explaining variances
- Review best practices and recommend continuous improvement efforts in financial reporting and accounting
- Respond to ad hoc requests as require
Your Qualifications :
CPA designationMinimum of 6-8 years of progressive experience in industry or public accountingExperience with compensation accounting would be an assetStrong analytical skills, including ability to use advanced Excel functionsStrong time and project management, communication (written & verbal), and interpersonal skillsExcellent attention to detail and accuracyExperience with development of financial reports an assetAbility to adapt, learn quickly and work independently on multiple competing prioritiesExperience with Workday Financials and / or Adaptive Insights would be advantageousINDS
