About the role
Le gestionnaire de la Santé et de la Sécurité est chargé de planifier, développer, coordonner et exécuter les aspects liés à la sécurité et à la santé au travail concernant le personnel, les matériaux, l’équipement et les environnements de travail.
Le de la Santé et Sécurité supervise la mise en œuvre et l’application de toutes les procédures liées aux exigences des programmes établis en santé et sécurité au travail pour toute l’entreprise. Il développe et s’assure de l’application du programme de santé et sécurité et du programme de formation mis en place pour les employés. Il effectue des audits internes en accord avec les procédures corporatives, les lois et règlements en Santé et Sécurité au travail. Le responsable SST met en place les actions nécessaires en vue d’améliorer le programme de Santé et Sécurité dans son entier.

The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and executing all aspects related to workplace safety and health concerning personnel, materials, equipment, and work environments. They oversee the implementation and application of procedures related to the requirements of established health and safety programs across the organization.
The manager develops, implements, and ensures the effectiveness of the health and safety program and training initiatives for employees. They also conduct internal audits in accordance with corporate procedures and health and safety regulations. The Health and Safety Manager implements necessary actions to improve the overall health and safety program.
Responsibilities:
·Manage agreements with professional clinics and service profiling, as well as the employee medical surveillance program (monitoring hazardous materials, respiratory surveillance, workers' compensation, and temporary assignments).
·Ensure the orientation and integration of new employees by facilitating various health and safety training sessions.
·Investigate, write reports, and analyze workplace accidents and incidents, as well as inspection and audit results, by identifying root causes and proposing improvements.
·Address any concerns or complaints regarding workplace health and safety.
·Facilitate risk assessments for tasks and equipment to implement appropriate preventive measures.
·Coordinate training for workers in areas regulated by OSHA, CNESST, DOT/Transport Canada, and other provincial and federal agencies.
·Review all safety programs to verify their adequacy and compliance, while identifying opportunities for improvement.
·Provide exceptional, hands-on training on critical topics such as confined spaces, hazardous materials transportation, first aid, CPR, and any other required training for the company.
·Recommend safety measures related to processes to reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and biological hazards.
·Implement and monitor internal and external safety inspection programs (sprinklers, fire extinguishers, alarms, etc.).
·Maintain affiliation with professional associations and pursue ongoing training for trainers.
·Update and communicate statistics on workplace incidents and accidents, as well as any programs developed by corporate health and safety management and performance indicators.
·Ensure the effective functioning of the health and safety committee and follow up on the implementation of discussed and approved improvements.
·Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation (LSST, RSST, LATMP) and company standards.
·Ensure that company programs and procedures are understood and applied at the facilities, including reviewing and analyzing root causes of significant environmental events and monitoring industrial hygiene.
·Coordinate with the Health and Safety Director, the Environmental Director, and the Transportation Compliance Director to create training tools, manage weekly and monthly safety campaigns, write incident reports, and analyze monthly statistics.
·Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the site to achieve health and safety-related KPIs and promote the development of a health and safety culture.
Required Skills:
·Bachelor's degree in science (biology, chemistry, environmental science, occupational health and safety) or engineering (environmental, chemical, industrial hygiene, etc.) or a related field; or, in lieu of a degree, 5+ years of experience.
·5 years of experience as a safety and/or environmental professional responsible for compliance.
·In-depth knowledge of government regulations related to environmental health and safety in the workplace.
·Ability to read and interpret documents such as health and safety regulations, the Code of Federal Regulations, OSHA regulations, and other consensus standards, as well as procedure manuals.
·Familiarity with OSHA regulations (a plus).
·Excellent statistical and analytical skills and proficiency in computer systems (MS Office).
·Bilingual (French/English).
·Knowledge of continuous improvement processes and techniques.
·Excellent communication skills.
·Strong initiative, autonomy, and leadership abilities.
·Exceptional organizational, planning, and priority management skills.
·Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
