Van Harten is currently seeking a bright and motivated individual to join our engineering team at our Guelph location. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to current projects both from a design perspective as well as construction inspection oversight, with our dedicated team eager to mentor and assist with your career growth. Initially, the role will entail working with rural residential development, with some exposure to larger commercial and industrial projects. With experience and proven performance, the role could extend into project management.

Job Responsibilities :
- Technical letter and report writing
- Site visits, inspections, and inspection reports
- Assist in coordinating the technical components of projects, including all client deliverables.
- Correspondence with local conservation authorities, municipalities, and clients
- Assist in project management - job tracking, client updates, coordination of fieldwork, etc
- Miscellaneous tasks assigned by manager
Candidate Requirements :
Graduate of an accredited 2- to 3-year civil engineering diploma program, who would be eligible to obtain C. Tech. and CET designationProficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MS Office based productsValid driver’s license and personal vehicle for work useAbility to work independently, as well as part of a teamStrong organizational, problem-solving, time-management, and multi-tasking skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAn interest in learning relevant sections of the Ontario Building Code and desire to understand how to apply that knowledge with design practiceAn interest in reading and interpreting architectural building plansA willingness to be mentored by experienced Professional Engineers and Technologists in this fieldAn interest in learning site plan and building permit application processes, including an understanding of zoning bylaws and conservation authority regulatory requirementsAn interest in learning about residential construction procedures, including site grading and sewage system installationAn interest in learning about commercial and industrial building development, including site servicing procedures and stormwater management infrastructure constructionVan Harten Surveying offers a variety of benefits, which include :
