The Specialty HUB - Pharmacist position plays an essential role in the quality and safety of our patients' medications. You will report to the Pharmacy Manager and will be responsible for providing specialized pharmaceutical care to patients receiving specialty medications, including biologics. Ensure safe and effective therapy for patients with complex medical conditions.Your Day-to-Day FocusMedication Management : Review and interpret complex prescriptions for specialty or biologics medications, ensuring accuracy, appropriateness, and adherence to treatment protocols.Patient Consultations : Conduct comprehensive patient consultations, explaining the proper use, potential side effects, and precautions associated with specialty or biologics medications.Drug Therapy Monitoring : Monitor patients' response to specialty or biologics medications, assess adverse effects, and collaborate with healthcare providers to adjust treatment plans as needed.Prior Authorization : Work closely with insurance companies and healthcare providers to obtain prior authorization for specialty medications, ensuring timely access to necessary treatments.Drug Interactions : Evaluate potential drug interactions with other medications or medical conditions, providing recommendations to minimize risks and optimize patient outcomes.Compliance and Adherence : Promote patient compliance and adherence to specialty or biologics medications through counseling, education, and medication management strategies.Inventory Management : Oversee the inventory of specialty medications, ensuring proper storage, handling, and disposal in compliance with regulatory guidelines.Quality Assurance : Maintain accurate patient records and participate in quality assurance programs to enhance the safety and effectiveness of specialty medication services.Collaborative Care : Collaborate with healthcare teams, including physicians, nurses, and other pharmacists, to optimize patient care and achieve treatment goals.Continuous Education : Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in specialty and biologics medications, attending seminars, conferences, and training programs to enhance professional knowledge.What You Will NeedTo succeed in this role, you will need : Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSc. or Pharm. D.)Kroll ExperienceLicensed and registered with Alberta College of PharmacistsA minimum of 1 years' experience as a licensed pharmacist.Authorization to Administer Medications by Injection.Strong clinical and communication skills to effectively counsel patients and collaborate with healthcare teams.Desirable QualificationsCertification for Additional Prescribing AuthorityExperience working in Specialty pharmacy.Proficiency and competence with Microsoft Office applicationsPrior experience in a specialty pharmacy or healthcare setting dealing with complex medications is an advantage.Attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks, and strong problem-solving skillsAdministration skills, such as planning and organizing, resource management and the ability to set priorities and coordinate work activities. Also includes managing time and resources so that work objectives are achieved on time.Customer relations skills including meeting customer needs and establishing a service environment. This involves the ability to identify requirements of internal and external customers, focus on achieving optimal results, and develop solutions that positively affect customer satisfaction. This also involves demonstrating good customer service to all.Written communication skills, including the ability to write in a clear and concise manner to peers, managers, and customers.
