PRIMARY PURPOSE
To provide field services and collaborate with scientists, senior environmental professionals and forensic experts on environmental investigation projects to provide consulting services to clients regarding environmental issues, including but not limited to emergency response, spills, contamination, indoor air quality (IAQ), hazardous materials, and health and safety (EHS) issues in accordance with assignments from clients or senior professionals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- First responder to new losses and assess the site; some travel and work outside standard hours required.
- Successfully manage project activities to completion; include assessing, evaluating, and determining the extent of impacts, identifying potential recovery avenues for the client, retaining and supervising sub‑contractors, controlling costs and developing cost‑effective approaches, and identifying and resolving conflicts within the project.
- Report to the clients and keep the manager apprised of developments.
- Ensure that all protocols are followed and reports are completed in a timely manner.
- Identify and resolve conflicts within the project independently.
- Prepare budgets and review invoices.
- Monitor the efforts and billing of third‑party workers, such as consultants, contractors, and other specialists.
- Assist in the appropriate, accurate, and timely collection of field samples (air, water, soil, etc.) and submit samples to the laboratory for testing and analysis.
- Maintain safety procedures.
- Adhere to established methodologies for project management and EFI Global training and safety manuals.
- Provide local marketing.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Document and maintain billable hours on a time and expense basis, as applicable, for services rendered for external clients.
- Gather detailed notes, take photographs, and document temperature, relative humidity, and moisture content measurements.
- Promote and market utilization of the company’s investigative services by the insurance industry within assigned territory.
- Partner with senior professionals on complex cases.
- Prepare inspection reports based on scientific findings and scope of work per project.
- Follow industry‑acceptable methodology for performance of services.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, colleagues, subcontractors, and prospects.
- Assist and observe contractor work on projects and interact with clients and contractor or subcontractor representatives accordingly.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Comply with company’s safety programs / standards.Properly utilize personal protection equipment.Exercise appropriate use, care, and maintenance of equipment (company owned or leased).Comply with company standards and best practices regarding the storage of equipment.Comply with all Human Resources policies, programs, and initiatives.Meet or exceed productivity levels and daily time submission as determined by manager.Perform all other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensing
The successful candidate must have a high school diploma with post‑secondary education (minimum 2‑year diploma) in one of the earth sciences, environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related discipline. Certification courses in mould and asbestos assessment and abatement would be beneficial.
Experience
Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in the field completing all phases of environmental remediation work.
