The position
NovoPower is seeking an experienced E&I technician with a passion for cleantech and sustainability, with strong PLC / DCS configuration skills, preferably including Beckhoff PLC (TwinCAT).
Working with our control engineer and the team of our partner NXT Process, you will be responsible for instrumentation and wiring of our commercial prototypes and our initial product offering, as well as for TWinCAT programming and HMI development. You will report to and work closely with the control engineer and the Chief Innovation Officer to ensure that the product meets performance objectives and customer requirements, and that the development process respects budgets and timelines.
You will be comfortable sourcing components, solutions and services, and solving problems of all types. Experimentation, data analysis, iteration and innovation are essential elements of this position. Documentation of innovation and IP creation is an essential part of the position.
You are well organized, and used to keeping detailed records.
This position is based at NovoPower’s offices in the Plateau Mont-Royal and at NXT's shop in St-Léonard, with opportunities for occasional remote work as circumstances permit.
About you
You should be passionate about innovation and energy efficiency. You should have at least 5 years’ experience with programming and operating PLC / DCS systems, and with implementing, operating and troubleshooting instrumentation of all types. Experience with Beckhoff TwinCAT is a plus.
You have strong organizational and management skills, and experience in managing experimentation and product development. You are naturally organized, and have experience developing and managing documentation systems.
